Born in Japan in 1930, Kazuhide Takahama pursued architecture in Tokyo, and upon graduation, he joined Studio Kazuo Fujioka. In 1957, he traveled to Italy to oversee Japan's architectural layout for the XI Triennale di Milano, where he began collaborating with designer Dino Gavina and went on to work for Simon International.

Takahama incorporated a modernist approach to design with classic Japanese materials such as lacquerware.

An iconic piece of dual-purpose furniture design seamlessly fused a console and dining table into an avant-garde sculptural form.

This table is an early example of this design and is in excellent vintage condition.
